Monday Review and Giveaway – Toybox CD

A few weeks ago we went on holiday to Weymouth; it’s quite a long journey for us which means keeping BG entertained. This isn’t always easy, she doesn’t like to strapped in the carseat for any length of time so you have to be creative with her. We were offered the chance to review a nursery rhyme CD called Toybox from The Rainbow Collections so I said yes and kept my fingers crossed that this would help with the car journey or at the very least mean that I didn’t have to sing Old MacDonald a hundred times.

The Toybox CD is full of traditional nursery rhymes with a little bit of twist, bit like X Factor when they make the song their own. They are sung and produced by KK and Sophie Barker of Zero 7 fame. The CD also comes with a book filled with pictures and the words to the rhymes.
BG really loved it, I mean really loved it! Every time a song finished she would ask “more?”

After 3 hours it was slightly annoying but it kept her happy. Some of the songs work and some of them make me cringe but they are aimed at children so I will forgive them.  BG’s favourite was of course Old MacDonald but she liked Ring A Ring A Roses too.

Would I Buy It? Yes, it’s one of the better children’s CD’s

It’s available from Amazon, Play, HMV, and Asda. The cheapest I have found it is Amazon and Play for £8.99.

I have a copy to giveaway to one lucky reader.

To enter all you have to do is leave a comment telling me what your favourite nursery rhyme is.*

Giveaway ends midnight Saturday 16th October.

The winner will be chosen at random and announced on Monday 18th October

Good Luck

  3. Good to find out about kids CDs as tends to be a lot of trial and error when buying them. My favourite nursery rhyme is twinkle, twinkle little star - as my little one heartly sings it as tinkle, tinkle - always makes me smile! xx

  5. We are very much in the nursery rhyme phase at the moment. Sam loves Ring o Roses but I love Incy Wincy Spider - mainly because of the actions! I found my boss looking at me strangely last week - apparently I was singing Old MacDonald under my breath. I didn't even realise!

  7. My wee boy Robbie loves Incy Wincy Spider and my daughter Milly loves Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. This would be great as I am always on the lookout for new CDS - we put a CD on in Millys room at night to help settle her and she loves it when she gets something new to listen to!

Personally I LOVE Wynken, Blynken, and Nod!

  9. Well, when I was a child my Dad used to sing to me 'Wee Willie Winkie, what will you do? I'll smash your face in with my brother's shoe!'. At the time I found it hilarious, but these days I reckon my poor dad would get banged up for singing that!!!
