Maclaren Twin Techno Pushchair Review

Price: From £220
Available from:  Kiddisave , Mothercare and other retailers
Suitable from: birth - toddler

Initial Reaction:  Easy to assemble and once set up, a very impressive looking pushchair.

Pros:  Simple and quick to set up and store away, lots of space to store shopping and the manoeuvrability in town and on slightly rougher terrain was excellent.

The braking system is easy to engage and release and filled me with confidence that I could (momentarily) leave it unmanned on an incline or decline.

Cons:  Initially I needed help lifting it out of the box as a little on the heavy side. Once out, however, I had no problems lifting in and out of the car.

Value for money? Yes, great for mums of twins or if you have little ones of a similar age.

Overall Reaction:  This is a pushchair that is value for money through and through and does not scrimp on build quality or added features and benefits. You get an awful lot of pushchair for your money.

Review – Maclaren Techno XT Footmuff

In September I reviewed the Maclaren Techno XT, now that the weather is getting much colder they sent me a footmuff to review. I was sent the Techno XT Footmuff, though universal ones are available.

It was pretty straight forward to attach to the buggy; I did find having to undo the straps a pain and the main clip took a bit of wriggling to get through.

It’s really warm and soft in side; BG likes to snuggle in there. It’s perfect for us as BG won’t wear gloves and with the footmuff she puts her hands under it to keep warm. We didn’t have a footmuff last winter and BG kept kicking her blankets off it drove me mad, this year she can’t do that. If she gets too hot she can tell me now so it’s a win, win situation.

It has two zips so it’s easy to get her in and out of and its machine washable which is a huge bonus.

The only negative I have is that BG just fits in it, she is quite tall for her age and her feet are touching the bottom on the footmuff, I’m hoping it will last the winter.

Other than that, it’s a good footmuff and a great addition to the Techno XT.

Would I Buy It? Yes, ideal if you are buying the buggy from birth.

The cheapest I found it was £39.99 at Kiddicare

Review – Maclaren Techno XT

We’ve been on the search for a lightweight umbrella buggy for BG; she is growing out of her current buggy as she’s quite tall. She won’t walk for any length of time so we still need a buggy for her.

Maclaren sent me their Techno XT (rrp £195) to test and review.

The first thing I noticed about the Techno XT is that it’s really lightweight but also seemed sturdy which is a great combination. It arrived already assembled, so no messing around with wheels.

It arrived the day before we left for V Festival so my Dad was actually the first person to really test it and he hasn’t used a buggy for over 20 years. He found it easy to push and steer. The only issue he had was he had the lift the storage pockets at the back to get to the basket underneath.

I really like this buggy, BG sits it comfortably and she loves that you set the leg rest up so she can have her feet up. It has a 5 point harness and its fits snugly and securely around her, though the release button was a bit tough to start with.

It’s easy to push, has a decent size basket underneath, it also has the storage pockets at the back which I like; the rain cover fits in them very nicely. It’s easy to collapse and open up and takes up hardly any room in the boot or hallway.  The handles are adjustable and the hood is a decent size and waterproof, the seat has 4 reclining positions. And if that wasn’t enough it always has reflective strips on the cover and on the wheels so you can be seen at night.

The buggy comes with the rain cover and head support for babies and it is suitable from birth.

Would I Buy It? Yes, you will get a lot of use out of this buggy. Its comfortable, sturdy and lightweight.

The Maclaren Techno XT can be bought at Next, Boots, John Lewis and Tesco’s to name a few. The cheapest I have found it is at Mothercare who have an Internet offer at the moment at £165.

An added bonus for all you mum's out there that want to stroll back to shape. Maclaren has teamed up with Pushy Mothers and put together some exercise videos that you can do with your pushchair. Pop over to the site and check out their free videos.
