Fairtrade Fortnight Spotlight - The India Shop

The India Shop is a family firm that does exactly what its name says: It sells and imports products with the lable “Made in India”. What distinguishes them from other shops, though, is the fact that all of their products have the fairtrade kite mark on them. The India Shop has been trading for more than 20 years and is a member of BAFTS - the British Association of Fair Trade Shops and the  WFTO – the World Fair Trade Organisation.

If you are on the look out for lovely Indian jewellery, accessories or unique homeware and you want to help keeping alive traditional Indian craft skills while providing needed employment particularly in rural areas, the India Shop is the place to have a good snoop around. All of the goods sold on the India Shop website are handmade and brought to you by companies that the India Shop has hold long term working and trading relationships with. This means that with every purchase you support fair wages and reasonable working conditions in a country that still suffers from the exploitation of its workers and child labour.

But it doesn't stop here: Gorgeous wooden furniture, rugs and traditional Indian jewellery are produced in an environmentally friendly way – could there be any more reasons to stop at the India Shop?
