Parent Panel Review - Ryvita

Price: £1 - £1.50

Available from: Most supermarkets

Initial Reaction: Both these flavours sounded really tasty and I looked forward to trying along with some of the recipe ideas available on the Ryvita website.

Pros:
  • Both of these flavours are really great, the sweet onion goes well with any cheese and the black pepper has a bit of a kick so for those that like their food hot these are great.
  • High in Fibre
  • Low in saturates and salt
  • Suitable for vegetarians

Cons:
  • Can be a bit dry if you don’t have them with something.

Value for money? Yes, you only need a couple of these to fill you up.

Overall Reaction: The flavours are great in these Ryvita and if you want something to snack on they are perfect. What makes them even better are the recipes, there are things on the Ryvita website I would have never thought of doing with them which makes them really versatile too.

Price: £1.44

Available from: Most supermarkets

Initial Reaction: I was very intrigued when I saw these as I hadn’t heard of sweet Ryvita before.

Pros:
  • Go great with a cup of tea
  • Low in fat
  • High in fibre
  • Perfect alternative to biscuits

Cons:
  • Can be a little dry on their own but that stops you from eating the whole packet!
  • They do have quite an artificial sweet aftertaste, however I will add they don’t contain anything artificial.

Value for money? Compared to a packet of biscuits they are a little more expensive but you only need a few so they should last a while.

Overall Reaction: These make a great mid morning snacks and as they are low in fat you don’t need to feel guilty. They also taste great topped with fruit and dipped in yoghurt. Are healthy alternatives to biscuits and very filling so you don’t need many.

Price: £0.48

Available from: Most supermarkets

Initial Reaction: These look perfect to keep around as filling snacks and the flavours sound delicious.

Pros:
  • Both of these flavours were really tasty.
  • Quite filling gave my son some and he only managed a few.
  • High in fibre
  • Low in fat
    Perfect size for lunch boxes
Cons:
  • These both contained a lot more salt than I would have liked, the salt and vinegar ones in particular. However if you don’t have much other salt in your diet then its fine.
Value for money? Yes, you get a very filling snack for the same price as a normal bag of crisps.

Overall Reaction: These are a great snack that are high in fibre and low in fat, although the salt content is a little on the high side compared to other savoury snacks of the same flavour/type I wouldn’t let this put me off. They are perfect for popping in lunchboxes and taking on picnics.

Price: 1.50 - 1.89

Available from: Most supermarkets

Initial Reaction: Looked really tasty and different to the normal Ryvita I am used to seeing.

Pros:
  • Great as a pre dinner snack (my 3 year old couldn’t get enough of them so a great alternative to breadsticks). They are also great for dipping and really are delicious.
Cons:
  • None

Value for money? These would be better if they were a bit cheaper, compared to something like breadsticks they are almost double the price for the same amount, however they are really tasty so as a treat I would definitely buy them.

Overall Reaction: We really enjoyed them and they were gone within a day so I would definitely buy them again, maybe a bit more if they were a little cheaper. Great snack for little ones, taking on picnics and as a pre dinner treat.
