Review - Cushi Tush

Cushi Tush is a baby seat with a difference, its made from ARPRO® which is Expanded Polypropylene, its an environmentally friendly, green material. In manufacturing No VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), hydrocarbons or other recognised environmentally damaging compounds are used. ARPRO® is 100% recyclable
OK that's the science bit over! You can more information on the technical specifications here

This seat is incredibly lightweight, so light that when it was delivered I didn't even know there was a seat inside the box (perfect for my bad back)

Now BG does have a Bumbo seat but unfortunately due to the fact she was such a sickly whenever we out her in because of the way it lifted her legs up, she would just be sick once she was sat in it!! With this seat it doesn't happen the leg holes slop down so there is no pressure on her stomach.

It comes with a tray which is held into place in three positions and is great for playing and eating.

the Cushi Tush has been a bit of a god send in the last week as with my bad back its been difficult to get the high chair out and put it away again, so I use it for snack time.

When the chair arrived it was snacktime so that's was the first time we used it (plus I couldn't wait to get it out of the box!)

Its also good for when I want BG to calm down before naps and bedtime, we put her in it and sit and play quietly or read.

BG also likes to play with it!! As its so lightweight she throws it around!

Now I'm sure with younger children (this chair is suitable from 3 -18 months or 30lbs) that they can't get out of the chair so you could turn you back for 30 seconds, well not with BG she has learnt to get out of the Cushi Tush already as these pictures show!

So just a warning this is meant as play or snacking chair, its has no straps and children can easily get free so please don't leave them unattended!

This is one of those products that I wish I had found a few months ago, it would have been perfect for when I started weaning, it has a high back which helps supports her. We bought a highchair far too soon, it wasn't suitable for her as it wasn't supportive enough.

The Cushi Tush comes in a variety of colours, I got to choose mine and I opted for the mixed look and I really like it!

Now they also make a Cushi Therm which is a bottle insulator and I actually have one of those that I bought my self and its really good, keeps the bottles really hot.

My favourite item they make is the Lil Cushi Tush, so your child can put their doll or teddy in it!! Suitable from 3 yrs and is made from the same material, so so cute!

If you're looking for a play seat for your child or a first feeding chair then you can't go wrong with a Cushi Tush. Its lightweight, durable, non-toxic, Paediatrician approved and fully recyclable. It also looks good and takes up little space.

For more information on the Cushi Tush and to find a list of their retailers please see their website

The cheapest I've found the Cushi Tush is at the whole kaboodle for £27.95, if you find it cheaper any where else please let me know!

Guest Post - Baby Budget Tips by Miss Leslieanne

Welcome to the first Guest Post of what I hope is many!

Our first guest blogger is Miss Leslieanne who describes herself as mummy to one gorgeous baby boy, fiance to his delicious daddy, and a girlie girl with passions for art, music & fashion.

Miss Leslieanne has not one but three blogs!! (she is worse then me!!) I don't know how she does it! These fab blogs are Life with a little Dude all about her gorgeous little boy, Kooky Boutique all about her fab jewlery and Rainy Day Fun, I suggest you have a little lookie!!

OK without further ado Miss Leslieanne's guest post -

Baby Budget Tips
Tiny people = big expense, sorry, but its true!

*But* there are ways & means to stretch your finances so you can spend less time counting pennies, and more time enjoying being a mummy!

1. If you can, start before your tiny person gets here. Say you find out you’re expecting when you’re 8 weeks – technically, you’ve got 32 weeks left. Get a jar or piggy bank of some sort, and stick £1 in it everyday. 32 weeks x 7 days = £224! That’ll buy a lot of nappies! (Or a lovely cot, in my case!)

If you can keep it up after baby’s born (I’m *trying* to!), you’ll have over £300 on your little one’s first birthday – no scrimping money together for prezzies, plus you could add a lump sum to their Child Trust Fund!

2. Make sure you get everything you’re entitled to. Obviously there’s maternity pay/grant depending on your situation, but since April this year, ALL pregnant women are also entitled to a £190 ‘health in pregnancy’ grant – you’ll need to get a form from your midwife/doctor, but it’s really easy to complete & the money is paid straight into your bank. Claim it!! While you’re at it, check whether you are entitled to any tax credits – and check again after baby is born, because you may be entitled to more.
Visit: http://entitledto.co.uk/ to check you’re getting all you should be.

3. Send off your child benefit form as soon as possible after your baby is born as payments are only backdated for a maximum of 3 months.
You can’t submit your form before you give birth, but you can request it & fill it in as much as possible so that it just needs posting when baby arrives – first few weeks with a newborn are busy busy, so anything you can get done in advance is a good idea!

4. Another thing you can do beforehand, (maybe when you’re on maternity leave wishing your baby would hurry up!), is register on every baby website you can think of! Pregnant women/mummies are a valuable commodity & all the big companies want a share of your baby bucks!
This is a good thing though, because it means they all want to give you freebies & money off vouchers – and we all love freebies, don’t we?

Do a Google search for ‘baby freebies’ or ‘baby money off vouchers’ & you’ll find plenty to choose from!

5. If you haven’t got them already, register for bonus cards such as Boots & Tesco – all those extra points from baby shopping soon add up! (Whether you decide to be sensible & spend them on more baby essentials of fritter them on mummy treats, is entirely up to you!) Being part of the scheme usually means they send you lots of lovely money off vouchers too, which is nice :)

6. Sounds boring, but try planning your meals for the week. That way, you can make a shopping list that includes only what you need & not get distracted by bundles of naughty but nice goodies that you don’t really need. I’ve saved a fortune doing my food shopping online simply because I only buy the necessities (and maybe the odd treat – I’m only human!) It costs extra to have everything delivered, but the amount I save more than makes up for it – and you can order huge bulky jumbo packs of nappies without having to worry about carrying them home!

7. When your baby starts to join in on mealtimes, make them homemade dinners! Those tiny little jars of mush aren’t cheap, and can’t possibly taste as nice as what you’re having! Or, you could even consider baby-led weaning & eliminate ‘baby food’ from your grocery bill altogether!

8. Rather than spend a fortune on toiletries – share your baby’s! I’m a big fan of Johnson’s bedtime bath as a shower gel (it makes my skin super soft and it smells lovely!), baby lotion is a brilliant mummy body lotion, and baby wipes are perfect for removing makeup!

9. Join the library! Yes, it’s lovely for your baby to have some books of their own, but chances are they’ll get bored and/or outgrow them quickly – get them a library card & there are hundreds to choose from – all free :D In the same breath, find out if there’s a toy library anywhere near you too!

10. Let your baby pay their own way! No, of course I don’t mean child labour!! But every few months, go through their wardrobe & pull out everything that doesn’t fit anymore. Decide what you can’t bare to part with (be ruthless, it’s hard, I know – but imagine how much room a years worth of baby clothes will end up taking up!), bundle up the rest & list it on ebay – again, you can be sensible, use your profits for daily essentials, or naughty & buy a whole lot of new bambino couture, up to you!

And don’t forget, mummy’s are, by their very nature, fantastically resourceful – so you’re bound to come up with a million other brilliant ways to save money before your little person is even crawling :D

I hope you enjoyed this guest post, don't forget to check out Miss Leslieanne blogs!

Review - Bambino Merino Baby Sleeping Bag

Bambino Merino sell a range of sleeping bags and sleep wear made from 100% New Zealand merino wool.

Rochelle was inspired to launch Bambino Merino following the unexpected premature birth of her son in 2005.

Aware of the dangers of overheating and concerned about the health of her special care baby, Rochelle quickly discovered that breathable natural fibres are preferable to synthetic alternatives.

When dressed in garments containing polyester her son became sweaty, hot and uncomfortable. It was then Rochelle decided to create a range of natural baby sleeping bags and clothing – all made from breathable New Zealand merino wool.

Now I love sleeping bags for babies, BG never liked to be swaddled when she was born and we found that she would kick her covers off, so a sleeping bag was a good solution and she sleeps in one every night.

I was sent a Bambino Merino sleeping bag to test and review. I was sent baby one which fits from 2 months to 2 years!!

Its huge, which is what you want from something that should last you 2 years! Its very very soft me and OH couldn't stop touching it. What I like the most is that the zip is at the side then there are poppers over the shoulders and at the armholes so they can be adjusted (BG didn't need the arm holes done up!). We have a few sleeping bags with zips at the front and I find them hard to get BG in a zipped up without her screaming at me

BG hasn't screamed once when we've put her in this sleeping bag in the last week . The good thing about the top poppers is that you can kinds drop her in the bag them do it up.

Would you like to see a pic of BG in hers? Of course you would, silly question

Another good thing about this bag and the merino wool its made from is that its suitable for all seasons, so you don't need a different one in the summer and winter, which means you don't have to buy lots of them, yay save some pennies!!

It washes well and can be tumbled dried but at low temp, but dries really quickly on the washing line or a clothes horse.

The sleeping bags come in two sizes 2-3months to 2 years and 2-4 years.

The babies ones are £49.95 (but they do last up to 2 years and can be used all year round) and the toddlers one is £59.95

They are running a special offer on the baby sleeping bags at the moment, buy 2 for £89.90, see here for more details

Bambino Merino also sell swaddle wraps, pyjama's (which I've got my eye on) that are available for pre-order ready for September delivery, all made from the same wool. Plus body suits and hat, see the site for the full range

Would I recommend a Bambio Merino sleeping bag? Yes I would, they are a little more expensive then some other bags but I think they are worth the money, especially since they can be worn year round no need for different togs, I do worry about how hot or cold BG gets.

Now I'm off to see if I can get one made in mummy sizes!

Review - Pampers Golden Sleep

For those of you that read my New Mummy blog you will know that me and my OH have been really lucking with BG's sleeping. She started sleeping through the night from 9 weeks!

Well its ended! The last few weeks have been a nightmare she's been waking in the night, being a mare to settle and waking up at 5.30!! This does not make mummy a happy bunny.

Now we kinda have a routine at night but its not great and OH made a rod for our back by letting her fall asleep on him! (Grrr git)

A lovely lady sent me a Pampers Golden Sleep pack full of goodies, these goodies included a taggie blanket, a lullaby CD, A guide to Golden Sleep and a huge sample of fabric conditioner.

Now Pampers have added a new Golden Sleep logo

"The Golden Sleep logo symbolises the outstanding dryness performance of Pampers nappies, thanks to the inclusion of a unique Extra-Dry Layer™, and is featured on packs of Pampers Baby-Dry nappies, Pampers Active Fit nappies and Pampers Easy Up pants"

So I had to try them!! Now being a Huggies mummy (sorry Pampers!) I was wary trying a new nappy, we got the Active Fit nappies as BG is very active now and they work really and kept her dry at night (she does wee a lot!). I now have a two lots of nappies to choose from!

Pampers have put a lot of effort into researching sleep so they can introduce the perfect nappy, they surveyed over 50,000 mums across Europe and enlisted the help of Professor Gregory Stores

Pampers have set up a Golden Sleep forum on their site, on there you will find 12 Golden Tips From mums and 12 Golden Sleep Tips from Professor Gregory Stores

The last week we have tried to make bed time a bit calmer (have been using the lullaby CD), and trying to get BG to self sooth, (its going to be a long journey) she is settling better and sleeping through the night again (until she starts teething again), we just need her to stay a sleep a bit longer, it was 6 am this morning so getting better

Now starting tomorrow (sorry!) the Pampers Golden Sleep Train will be visiting three major cities to help mums and dads get their babies 12 Golden Hours of sleep!

All aboard the Pampers® Golden Sleep Train!
Next stop the perfect night’s sleep

New interactive event for families will be touring the UK
helping parents to help their babies enjoy up to 12 hours of Golden Sleep at night

Calling at: Westfield Shopping Centre, London Friday 7th – Sunday 9th August
Trafford Shopping Centre, Manchester Friday 14th – Sunday 16th August
Silverburn Shopping Centre, Glasgow Friday 21st – Sunday 23rd August

If you can't make them (like me) then visit the Pampers site for my advice and info

(Psst if you join the site they send you money off coupons!! )

I hoping that this new calmer night time routine keeps working!

NM X
PS : To provide UK parents with help and advice that will get their babies to sleep better, Pampers is giving away 100 Limited Edition Golden Sleep Kits. Winners will be randomly selected. To enter the contest, complete quick 5 minute survey here
Last date for receipt of entries is September 25, 2009
